Directly below the menu bar, four summary counters give you an immediate view of your library's data. These figures are live — they update each time the page is loaded.

Counter		What it shows
Members		The total number of active library members registered in the system
Bibliographic Records		The total number of catalogued titles (BRNs) across all publication types
Stock Items		The total number of individual physical copies registered in the system — one per accession number
Items on Issue		The number of items currently on loan to members — not yet returned

Below the statistics panel, a Most Popular Books section displays cover images of the most frequently borrowed titles over the last 90 days, giving you a quick view of reading trends in your library.

For more detailed usage statistics, use All Reports or the dedicated Highest Readership Statistics and Highest Publication Usage Statistics pages available from the home screen.

User Menu

Your name or email address appears in the top-right corner of the screen. Clicking it opens a drop-down menu with account and library management options.

Select Library Switch to a different library if your account has access to more than one. Only relevant for multi-library accounts.
Library Overview Returns you to the Home Screen from anywhere in the system.
My Profile Update your personal account details, including your name, email address, and password.
Library Account View and manage your library's subscription, licence, and billing information.
User Activity View a log of recent actions performed by system users — useful for auditing and troubleshooting.
Get Support Opens the Quick Start Guide and links to help resources and tutorial videos.
Book Reminders Triggers the sending of overdue reminder emails to members with items past their return date.
Log Out Signs you out of Papyrus Cloud. Always use this on shared or unattended computers to protect your library data.

Always log out on shared computers. Papyrus Cloud does not automatically time out your session. If you leave a shared computer without logging out, another person could access your library data.

Menu Bar

The menu bar runs across the top of every screen in Papyrus Cloud. It provides access to all functions of the system. Each top-level menu item expands to reveal a drop-down list of related screens and tools. The menus are described in full below.

The menu items visible to a user depend on their access level, which is configured under Parameters → Users. Some screens — particularly under Parameters and Routines — may not be visible to all staff.

OPAC — Online Public Access Catalogue

The OPAC is the public-facing catalogue search. Members and staff can use it to search for titles, browse reading lists, and locate items in the library. Papyrus Cloud offers five OPAC modes:

Full search with filters for title, author, subject, publication type, and more

AI Search New

Natural language catalogue search powered by artificial intelligence

Simple Search

A streamlined single-field search — ideal for members and younger users

Reading Lists

Browse curated reading lists created by library staff

The Textbooks menu provides a dedicated workflow for schools that issue textbooks to learners at the start of each year and collect them at the end. This operates separately from the standard circulation workflow and is designed for bulk issuing and tracking of textbook sets.

The Textbooks module is primarily designed for school libraries. For colleges and other institutions that do not issue textbooks to learners, this menu may not be relevant.

The Routines menu contains bulk operations and maintenance tools that are typically run periodically rather than daily. It is grouped into three sub-menus.

Parameters Menu

The Parameters menu contains all system configuration settings. These are typically set up when the library is first configured and reviewed periodically. Changes here affect the behaviour of the entire system. It is grouped into three sub-menus. For a full reference covering all 15 parameter screens, their purpose, setup order, and how they interrelate, see the Parameters Complete Reference.

Parameters should only be changed by the library administrator. Incorrect settings can affect borrowing rules, fine calculations, and email notifications across the entire library.

General Parameters

Global Parameters

Core system-wide settings including library name, next member number, and default member type

System Dates

Configure the current academic or library year dates

Holidays

Define public holidays and school holidays so they are excluded from loan period and fine calculations

Users

Add, update, and manage staff user accounts and their access levels

Locations

Define physical library locations for multi-site libraries (requires multi-site licence)

Barcode Settings

Configure the starting number, format, and prefix for automatically generated barcodes

Email Settings

Configure the email server settings used for overdue notices and member communications

Member Types

Define the member types used by your library and their associated borrowing rules

Publication Parameters

Publication Types

Define the types of media in your catalogue (e.g. Fiction, Non-Fiction, DVD, Reference)

Publication Templates

Create cataloguing templates to pre-fill common fields for specific publication types

Stock Status

Define the status codes used to describe the condition or availability of stock items (e.g. Available, Lost, Withdrawn)

Fine Types

Configure fine rates applied to overdue items by publication type

Privileges

Set publication-type-specific borrowing rules that override the member type defaults

Reports and Graphs

Two dedicated menu items provide access to the full reporting suite:

Menu item		Description
All Reports		A comprehensive list of available reports covering members, stock, circulation, overdues, and more. Reports are displayed on screen and can be exported to PDF, Excel, or other formats.
All Graphs		Visual charts and graphs showing library usage trends, readership statistics, and stock analysis.

The Highest Readership Statistics and Highest Publication Usage Statistics shortcuts on the Home Screen give you quick access to the most commonly needed usage reports without navigating through All Reports.

Licence and Version Details

Below the library statistics, the Home Screen shows your current licence information.

Field	Description
Papyrus Version	The edition and subscription type of your licence (e.g. Cloud Version – Standard – Annual Subscription)
Users	The number of staff user accounts included in your current licence
Licence Valid Until	The expiry date of your current subscription. Renew before this date to avoid interruption of service.
